My lessons are FREE, but I would appreciate a small donation from those who use them regularly — $5 to $10. That’s a one-time payment that will help cover the costs of my spending time on this instead of giving regular lessons – that would cost you a LOT more. I cannot continue doing these free lessons without it paying off a little. Thanks!

Thanks to all of you who have donated so far! It helps! I’m looking to buy a new HD camera soon to improve the quality of my videos.
This is my lesson for Lonnie Johnson’s instrumental tune Away Down In The Alley. It is played in the key of D using DGDGBE or “G” tuning. The capo is placed on the second fret. the song is made-up of several different verses -each with its own unique melody and rhythm. I learned the tune from three different sources: Woody Mann ‘s audio lesson, Steffan Grossman’s book (The Guitar of lonnie Johnson), & the original recording by Lonnie Johnson.
I don’t claim to have this all figured out exactly the way he played it. I welcome any corrections or helpful comments anyone out there may have. I hope you enjoy learning this fabulous tune!
